• Cantilever/mini v-brakes work perfectly well and will meet your stopping needs, be it on or off road, and you can swap everything over without any issues. By the sounds of it, this is want you want to do so I'd counsel that you forget about discs for now.

In terms of the product cycle for discs on road bikes, we are still in the early adopter phase so by waiting a few years you will get a better quality setup for less cash and all the standards will have had time to bed down, so you'll know what to get.

  • Right then. That makes life much easier.

  • You could use cable discs so you don't have to change the controls. Avid makes short-pull versions of the BB5 and BB7 for road/cross/touring use.

  • Don't complicate the issue.

  • I can't help but think those guys knew what they were buying...

  • The thought crossed my mind.

I'm not sure FSA stuff is exactly 'made in Italy' as stated. That's contentious.

What's not contentious is if you buy a fake, you've got to satisfy yourself the the quality is good enough to be safe, because there is no minimum quality – some of the stuff is junk.

  • How long does it normally take Hong Fu to respond?

  • A few hours, normally a timely response considering the time difference. Cherry was pretty good through my purchase.

  • The bars just arrived, pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the bars and the quality of the decals, but they're not perfect. The right decal is slightly skewed and they're too far from the clamping so I'll have to choose between covering them up all the way to the clamping area or stopping the tape way early, halfway is ugly and they're under the clearcoat so acetone isn't option either. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

  • I have deal with a few Chiense carbon Company, I build 2 bikes from scratch using their parts, one track and road. Here are my review

My Track frame is from DengFu, communication is a pain, they dont speak good english, they reply no more then once a day, so it might take you 2 weeks just to ask them something and order. I ask them to send me a fork with hole so i can fit brake, the fork arrives, it does have a hole but the fork itself is in a weird shape (they send me their TT Fork instead of the original track fork) and it wont fit the frame because it keep hitting the frame when i turn the fork. So in the end I ask them to send me the original fork without hole. The frame also have a seatpost slipping issue, it is the aero shape seatpost and I think a few people have that problem when I research online. Other then the seatpost and communication problem, the frame is solid, stiff and light though

I got my road wheels (38) on yoeleo (http://www.yoeleobike.com/). They have a wide range of wheels and frame in their website. They reply much better English, faster and more frequence than DengFu. Prize wise they are not the cheapest you can get on chinese carbon but with the better communication I dont mind paying abit more to get a peace of mind of knowing I will get what I actually ordered. The wheel itself is amazing, it is so good in fact I order the another wheelset for my track (60 rear 50 front) and I am 100% sure I will buy more wheels from them. Not sure about the frame though, maybe one day ill have the chance to try.

I order my Road frame on VeloBuild, the frame is R-016. Prize wise it is very cheap ($429.00). Communication is good as well, very similer to yoeleo. The frame itself is not very stiff compare to my track frame, I think because it is a "light weight Frame" or "climbing frame" so it is not as stiff as a heaver track frame I had from Deng Fu, but it does what "climbing frame" does, its light and climb very well so far, I do need more time on it to have a better feel of it, but so far so good (700km)

I also brought 3T carbon stem and handlebars from aliexpress.com and they work well so far, although my fake 3T seatpost broke recently because the glue is shit but its only cost me £18 so I cant complain.

I hope this help, for wheels I recommend yoeleo.

Buy at your own risk though.

  • Excuse the shit pics, but you should get the idea. @Pifko

  • 32h
    50mm ish deep
    25mm ish wide
    clincher
    rim track not needed.

Where can I buy? A good one. Just the rim.

  • A month or so ago I had some wheels delivered from Yoeleo and the package was fucked and the rim had taken a beating with brake track damaged and spoke pulled out. I rejected the package and it was sent back direct to china.

When this happened I posted here and as a repeat customer with them waited to see what the customer service stood up to when something hit the fan. I am pleased to say that they sent me a replacement set which I recieved a couple of days ago, no extra shipping cost etc. It took a while to get the new set built up and resent but needless to say I am happy with how I was treated by Yoeleo and wanted to formally rep them for their customer service.

  • Cool,

Hows the wheel performing so far?

  • Received a FM-066SL frame from Hong Fu on Wednesday. SO LIGHT - building it up this weekend so will report back soon.

  • Please do mate

  • Take some pictures! Always interested to see how these do

  • Haven't had a chance to fit them yet. Will report back when I've ridden them a while.

The machining and finish is really good and they are v light

  • Also, what do we do when we recieve retrospective customs notice from TNT express AFTER wheels are delivered? Accidentally recycle?

  • "Accidentally recycle"
    Haha, How much is it?

  • £50 I believe. I got the letter after they were first delivered (the ones I didn't sign for and sent back), so potentially could get another letter for the replacement ones.

  • Tease pic. No customs by the way. Not sure it's worth a CP thread.
