If you're actually interested in this topic, there is a growing collection of literature you may want to look at:

I'm not entirely sure how this utter tragedy is a subject for jokes. Who knows why the mother carried a concealed handgun? Maybe she had a mad stalker, we don't know. And even if perhaps we might not accept her reasons, she herself was probably subjected for years to the relentless onslaught of fear-mongering that causes people to buy and carry these things. All are victims here and nobody deserves ridicule.

It's a little harsh but I think the ridicule is aimed at, and points out the ridiculousness of American gun laws through these repeated and wholly avoidable tragedies. Not that most people on here need convincing of such.

You have to be rich to watch this years NYE fireworks in London http://voxpoliticalonline.com/2014/12/31/londons-new-year-fireworks-display-is-ticketed-to-keep-out-the-riff-raff/ -

It’s a form of apartheid; the less affluent are being shunted out of their own city. This writer’s only question is: Will Londoners meekly accept this treatment? Or will we see fireworks in more ways than one?
What the actual fuck? The article doesn't even say how much tickets were. Is it perhaps possible (and even more likely) that it's ticketed only because there is in fact a limit to the space available vs the people who want to attend? I doubt the rich really want to be kettled up on a cold fucking street on NYE watching shitty fireworks.

If they're truly rich they'll be astride their besaddled pauper, ballgag in mouth, slaughtering a fox and huffing the finest cocaine as the clock strikes 12.

I'll be trying to replicate this with cheap ket, a stuffed penguin and one of those kids ride on trains outside tescos, I have a ballgag at least.

Irvine Sellar and his improbable hair were on ITV London news, he said The Shard will be "integral" to the firework display tonight.

On morality as a concept in general, or it's specific relation to environmental/conservation issues.
Currently writing my own thesis on wildlife conservation (although nothing to do with the issues above) so the topic interests me.
