Yay, I've been thinking about this for a while...prepare for an epic post
How my resolutions in 2014 went:
- Repeat resolution. Eat more fruit and veg. Make use of the ridiculously cheap fruit and veg market literally seconds from our flat instead of overpriced stuff from supermarkets.
BIG FUCKING TICK. It's been the year of the veg for me and @Sumo, buying huge bags from the market and even drastically cutting down on carbs and going paleo for a while. I even bought a spiraliser for heaven's sake!- Get to the track every week especially once the track season starts in spring. Get fit. Get fast. More racing!
I did really well at this between January-July, got pretty fit and fast, became a bit obsessed with getting QOMs on Strava, but work got in the way of me being able to compete and train regularly so I didn't do much racing other than the LFGSS Track Days. And since October I've barely ridden and have got really unfit again, thus undoing a whole 8 months of hard work :'(- Read loads of books - use the local library instead of buying
I have read more, mainly working my way through the huge tome that is the complete Sherlock Holmes stories that was lent to me.- Do more cultural things, appreciate being in London a bit more - visit exhibitions, museums, go to the theatre at least once
Failed at this entirely.- Earn some decent money and save a lot of it
First part yes, this year I bagged my first ever full time job, which endowed me with a regular paycheck of more money than I've ever had before. Second part, erm, not so successful. It's nice to be able to spend money on nice things!- Work on writing
Unless you count emails I have done no writing whatsoever.- Always make effort to show sumo I appreciate him and shower him with love and kisses
I hope so. We've had an amazing year and next year looks to be even better.- Support local businesses instead of online shopping
Win. Apart from the odd piece of clothing or bike part I've hardly shopped online this year at all.Resolutions for 2015:
- Keep eating healthily, and actually learn to cook some things instead of letting @Sumo cook every night
- Get back to summer fitness, stat! Start winter track league at LVV in Jan and don't let lack of confidence/unfitness stop me from racing this year.
- Start doing yoga/going to the gym to work on my core and feeble arms
- Stop being such a sucker for sleep and get up earlier in the morning to do things before work (eg. yoga/gym/riding)
- Do more cultural things in London and combine that with seeing friends/family
- Keep eating healthily, and actually learn to cook some things instead of letting @Sumo cook every night

Buying a house is probably my main resolution/objective

Pick february to give up the booze as it's a shorter month.

• #337
Pick Stoptober as it's made up, so you never actually have to quit.

More long road rides (fixed, geared, I don't care). None of my other revelations will hold so why bother? :)
That was 7 years ago. Great success!

Lol. You maniac. I dread to think what you'd do if you decide to make any other resolutions.
"I've decided to get more involved in local politics"...

my new years resolution is start buying enough mince pies to last all year next year- have hired a frozen lorry container to store them.
started early today - the shops are full of half price minced pies, so reckon I will need about half a hundredweight to last until they are out again for 2015 -

Do a longer ride than I ever have before in each month of 2014, starting with 225km in Jan and adding 25km each month, culminating with doing the 2014 festive 500 in one ride.
Nope :(
But I'm glad I attempted this. It got me to go out into the lanes on the weekends a bit, something that I never really did before 2014. I made it to 425km before my ankle called a halt, a distance that would have terrified me only a couple of years ago.
I'll be back though: I still want to do a 500k, probably before next December. Maybe sometime around May, when it won't dark for most of the ride.

:)
Luckily for the current parties, I have no interest in local or national politics... yet.
-
• #347
Ride the National 24hr in July or enter an audax. It's personal, obviously, but I would find it easier to ride in an event and clock the 500 rather than set an arbitrary distance to do.

I want a world record of some sort. I fucked one attempt up this year but have a different target in mind. (no, it's nothing to do with eating, you fatists!)
