Make up your mind that you really want to do this before you enter as you do not want to take up places from seasoned audaxers as a sportive wannabe who then DNS. Mentally you got to be prepared to ride 36h in rain.
What helped me decide was a few four five hour night rights in slightly adverse conditions in January.
