  • For SSCX? Why?

  • Theyre dont cost loads and are singlespeed?
    Why not?

  • Oh, are you runing a tensioner?

  • no?
i dont need one i have horizontal dropouts.

  • Well, yeah, you don't need the narrow-wideish chainring for SSSX if you don't have a tensioner, but the crank and ring does look kinda cheap at £130ish all in from CRC.

  • If your budget would stretch the X-Sync would look rad

  • Mostly taking the piss, but I really don't get the point of GXP. 24mm both sides works just fine.

Hope make an adapter so you can fit your silly GXP cranks into their nice shiny 24mm BBs.

  • True, I think it's just a thing with installation, I find sram Gxp cranks easier to install than htii ones. Probably due to the fact I don't have to hit it with a mallet twice to get the spindle through. That or there is a genuinely good reason as praxis copied the 2mm step down on their road cranks

  • nicolai argon cx with gates.

  • 24mm works just fine if you have a way to account for BB shells that aren't quite up to spec - like the HT2 does with its pre-load cap and double pinch bolt arrangement. Shimano arrived at that arrangement, and understandably Truvative / SRAM were reluctant to copy it wholesale like FSA does now. The stepped GXP axle is their implementation of a 24mm system that can work with shells that aren't up to spec. And yeah it's kinda simpler than HT2 in terms of the tools required and faff to get it going.

I like it - it seems kinda bomb-proof and the BBs last quite well in my experience, even when used for muddy MTB riding and CX.

  • Like Howard said, you wount benefit from the narrow wide stuff. You could go cheaper still and buy older second hand Red cranks with a 42 innering for about half the price of the CX1. I even think they would be a tiny bit lighter. Just a suggestion though.

  • To be fair, the Force 22 crank - which is what the CX1 crank is IIRC - is a nicer crank than old red. Well, it looks better and is modular. £117 from CRC with the BB and ring with gift code present is difficult to resist.

  • It's got gears.

  • I use a sora triple with only one ring. Am i doing it wrong?

  • That depends how far apart you like your feet.

  • Hydro!

  • 440 or 450 chainstays?

  • 420 from bb to start of drop outs, midway through drops so siting near 430

  • only £680 atm... I havent used my cycle to work yet...hmmmm

  • If short bursts of shouldering your bike and run some steep rooty segments, that bike will take you deep and wild.

  • I posted a link for frame-only deals on those ^

I think it was in this thread...

  • Give me a good reason why I shouldn't get one of them?

  • They look like a shit-tonne of fun.
Oh, not to get one... Idk, you've not ridden one- only one way to solve that, eh ;)

  • I'll take the Mudguards and rack off my Genesis (though I'm loathed to do so because it's ball ache) stick some cross tyres on and do the rapha cyclocross ride this weekend. If I hate it I'll have just spent the cash on tyres not on a whole bike.
