  • Do any of Spa Cycles's £18 (Rigida, Exal etc...) options compare favourably with £50 Archetypes? Seems a lot for what seems to be an aesthetically-focused product.

  • I think most of the Spa ones are for touring, so are all >500g (and the rest). Plus, I really don't want machined brake tracks if I don't have to. For a rim brake set I was thinking of LX17 or something, that was until I got this stupid disc idea in my head.

Pacenti CL25 seem to be the way to go, I'm just waiting to hear whether I can get 32/28 hubs or whether I have to get 32/32 from here:

Had to check a few times but if you scroll down it says "in the box: front hub and rear hub."

The seller seemed confused when I asked about 28h, saying that these hubs are for fixed. Road hubs are 24h max. I've asked the same question again to see if it gets a more sensible response.

$84 is currently £54, and the seller will put a fake value on for customs so it could work out cheaper than XT (just a little longer to deliver than Wiggle

  • Merlin have ZTR Flow 29er rims for about £55 a pair inc postage. 32h and white only, 525g each and wiiide (23 int, 28 ext).

  • What was the outcome of this?

I'm also thinking of going down a similar route with the Pacenti/Novatec
