I'm hoping they are the same as the old Pro Optimum tyres. I bought a bunch before the Worlds but didn't end up fitting them.

Yes. It's a good thing. Free tyre width.
The Pro Optimum measure more like 27. -

They do size up pretty big. I've the 25c version and they are quite voluminous.

I just bought those Mavic ones 25c for race bike for £35 (pair) I'll see how I get on with them. Will be using with latex tubes.

Is there any benefit to wider tyres on track? Any recommendations for clinchers exclusively used on an indoors wood track?

No. 20c Conti Supersonics? Not a trackie tho.

Well, that's almost 600 km done on them so far over a variety of roads including gravel, cobbles, dirty b-roads full of twigs, flint and other debris, snow, ice, rain etc. and they don't have a mark on them.
I checked the pressure at the start of the Festive 500 and then just left them alone.
I know 600 km isn't an exhaustive/long term test but so far so good.
I should point out that the GP4000's I replaced hadn't punctured once if that's any recommendation and I did about 6k miles in all conditions on them.

I've got the Yksion elite guard, they're good, a bit buzzy, but they dont slide about on grates in any thing worse than damp weather, which make them a damned sight better than gators.

I am replacing Schwalbe One which are treadless .. how is the puncture protection?
-

Less chance of sliding when doing slow motion stacking :)
Wider has more grip, less aero, and somewhere between skinny and wide is the optimum rolling resistance.
Also wider tires need less pressure, which I'm hoping that means less chance of dramatic explosive deflation? The hire bikes are on 25 I think?

Vittoria tubs have branding on one side so need to be mounted non drive side for track...
Just received my clinchers and they have branding on both sides. Any recommendations on how to remove the branding other rub lightly with fine grade sandpaper? -

Why's that?

It's a slippery print, apparently.

Not sure if serious...
And that's what you should tell the commissar/coach too.

The only puncture I've had is from the valve breaking on the inner tube, not puncturing the tires, I've removed a few bits of glass, but I dont often cycle down Kingsland Road on Saturday and Sunday mornings anymore, so that's not such a problem...

...maybe I'm too gullible.

This isn't a real issue, simply ride fast enough and HTFU.

23mm.

HTFU.

Currently on Zaffiro 23s, which should be OK for herne hill but there's no way I'm taking them to LV! I want the grippiest, stickiest rubber going.

It is when the guy in front doesn't drop down with the group and just crawls around the top. I'll take all the grip I can have until I'm accredited.

Go over, under or shout?
It's fun shouting "faster".

Whichever ones grip enough for your track and are matched to your rims for teh bestest aeros
Basically you want 18mm at 220psi...

why would you want to replace the One's? They're great tyres.

Got me some 622x20 rims (Pacenti CL25) for an upcoming 'do it all'/cross/towpath bike and looking for some suitable tyres. By my calculation I shouldn't go lower than around 30c because of the rim width so are paselas my best option? Gravel Kings look nice but the 32c ones aren't out yet.
Likewise, been enjoying (what limited riding this year) the new 25mm durano plus on my gear bike, yes they're quite heavier than continentals tyres, but they're definitely more durable.
Been riding through glass and bad road surfaces and it's been holding up pretty nicely. Most noticeable thing was the side walls and how durable they're when rubbing along those damn crud mudguards! Highly recommended in my books. Though I am tempted with these new 'schwalbe one' tyres as I've heard good stuff from them, might give them a try in spring.
