Bit of a late start with 20 miles with the missus yesterday and 70 today. Fell off on black ice at a junction but the only casualty was a broken bottle. Back at work Tuesday so doubt I'll finish, again.

Up to 50% today, despite a silly low speed fall just round the corner from home.

Many, many, many laps of Battersea Park today with a mate who supplied Christmas cake and a hip flask. Now up to 62% so I need 40 miles a day to complete.

I seem to have some motivation back, ish. Around 1pm I'd eventually convinced myself to ride to Uxbridge (~20k away) and back but ended up doing 131k. Stuck to main roads and took it very gently as I can't really afford a fall at the moment.

Current total 323km. Last hour of today's ride was in the dark on Dartmoor (darkmoor), and utterly freezing. Two pairs of socks with tin foil between them, but toes were miniature ice bergs still. Any tips for this? Plastic bags? HTFU? Stay in?

What the fuck is it with people jumping out of the way on shared paths? I slow down to walking pace and say excuse me, and they react like I'm a runaway bus. These are the same belms who give cyclists fuck all room on the road, probably.

Because it's a shared path, some people think it's a good idea for peds and cyclists to mix together.

I use DHB Thermo socks + Sidi genius 6.6 shoes + kitchen foil + 2 year old castelli neoprene overshoes; works in the South.
