Do pre-shave oils help at all? Had my third shave with the Edwin Jagger and still getting a few nicks and a bit of razor burn in some places.

I use the Trufitt and Hill shave oil and do like it. It's a good beard softener but I am less convinced about the lubricating properties. For me, my nicks and razor burn are a result of rushing things, not letting the razor do the work, not paying enough attention to the lather and then not giving the lather time to sit and soften the beard more. The hot wash cloth on the face before and after washing makes a bigger difference for me. YMMV.

My girlfriend told me the other day that wet shaving makes your hair more wirey (as mine is in places, particularly around the neck/chin transition) - is this true or just BS?

How's her bikini line?

Good old LFGSS. Just found this thread. I have ordered a straight razor. Off to GF Trumper next week for some soap.

Cut my lip with my DE (feather blades) tonight, took over an hour for it to stop bleeding even with a styptic stick. #HalloweenStyle

Getting the hang of this.. Had over a weeks growth from a camping & fishing trip. Fresh Astra blade with the grain did the job with absolutely no irritation.
Chuffed. -

I am finding the crafting of my new hulk hogan moustache with a straight is quite challenging.
I end up having do to a "left handed reverse hold", to get the point if the blade down the right hand side of the right "vertical".
Tricky.

Got a nice Edwin Jagger double edged razor for Christmas along with a tub of Taylor's shaving cream, I think I just need a brush now right? Any recommendations for synthetic brushes, hopefully not too much more than £20?

No. Badger. You're welcome.

Got some Proraso stuff from the missus. Such menthol.

I just stopped shaving. Much lazy. So whatever.

Been using this for a few months really nice. I tend to fill the brush with it and then whip up a foam with my usual soap and bowl. Nice combo.

+1 Badger.

Alright, in that case point me to one not farmed in a country where animal welfare regulation is virtually nonexistent.
-
• #393
Buy a synthetic then. Most badger hair is from China and it could be dead farmed animals/by product of pest control/by product of food production.

Brush wise you might as well get a wilkinson sword brush. Anyway
These should be back in stock soon

Komisori ftw

Its the njs of shaving. I wonder how difficult it would be to shave your (not yours specifically) balls with one.

If it is ninja sharp you probably wouldn't realise until you bled out.
Ninjas, how do they work?

I swear this forum has a thread for everything, if you look closely enough.
Anyway, shave-gurus, I seem to have very sensitive skin and the Wilkinson Quattro or whatever it is that I'm using really irritates my neck and causes an itchy unsightly rash.
I believe a single blade could be an answer, where do I start, and are there any other good ideas? Will obviously read this thread through now as well.
I don't like feather, always cut myself to pieces with them. That said, my DE has had more use shaving my legs than my face lately.
