  • Bobridge was still the fastest IP rider in a UCI legal/non-superman position, behind Boardman before he got Boardman's record so it wasn't just a fluke.

  • True - but I think people try to compare 4km and hour record performances too much. It's similar to expecting a 1500m track runner to immediately scale up to half marathon, whereas there's a bit more to it than that, although they are largely aerobic events. I'd also say that Boardman's 1996 hour far outstrips his IP world record in relative terms.

  • I understand what you are saying, but didn't Boardman set both his hour record and his long standing 4 km pursuit world record within a week or so of each other?
