  • Get on the phone today Brendan, you know it makes sense

    bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30497171

He fulfils the Liverpool legend criteria and you'd hope he knows a
    thing or two about defending

Surely he would pose a threat to Rodgers with his managerial record.

  • wonder if arsenal should go for benitez

a man who knows how to win a trophy

Arsenal or Liverpool, it doesn't really matter. Just so long as the old fraud comes back to England so that we can abuse him to his face.

  • Remember all that he did for you.

Remember you are Chelsea, and Chelsea are...

  • Bitter, twisted, and delusional?
    Or is that all football?

  • Benitez for Liverpool, history, boot room, the headlines write themselves.
Jurgen Klopp to Arsenal will provide a seamless transition from Wenger.

  • In what way is he fraudulent? I seem to remember him winning 2 European cups and getting to 3 finals during his time managing in England?

  • There is one reason not all, but a lot of LFC fans will want Rafa back: He forced a level of begrudging respect for the club. (CFC for example were never happy at drawing us in any game as I suspect they are now). Rafa's tenure ended due to the infighting and him making public exactly what H&G were up to. Naturally there is a sense of unfinished business....Though I haven't forgotten the weird line ups and the at times baffling subs:

But then again we'll not forget having the highest European coefficient or winning stuff. IF BR swallow his pride and gets defensive help, great lets see where we end up but both he and Pascoe were wingers and attackers in their playing days...

  • @mancronald

Why is the spectre of potentially going back suck a bad thing in your eyes? Given the choice between Rafa and Brentnan whom you you go with?
One -though at times prickly- has won stuff, made us a genuine name and with better owners/funding could attract genuine big names.
The other with a propensity for hyperbole and apparent self delusion hasn't won anything but at times plays scintilating football but is still very raw and is still making a name for himself and doesn't have the kudos to attract names. Where would you go?

  • Prolly cuz we'd love to see Rafa back at Anfield...

  • Sadly whilst teflon man Ayre is still at the club there no way he'd allow Rafa back.

  • A mate of mine, lifelong Arsenal fan is devastated his son supports Chelsea. He had to take him to Stanford Bridge and out shopping to buy a shirt. His face is a picture of pure disappointment. I'm tempted to abandon it all now in case this were to happen with one of my two. I would just have to be the worst dad in the world and say no never and ban him/her from all football related activities if this were to happen :( How could one live with this?

  • I don't understand how this can happen.

You tell them they are (insert club name) fans from the day they are born.
You buy them (insert club name) babygro > kids kit > junior kit each birthday / Christmas.
You watch (insert club name) games with them next to you on the sofa.
You take them to their first live match at (insert club name).

They are then fans of (insert club name) and have no further choice in the matter. If they eventually discover the place-of-birth part of TEH RULEZ, you calmly explain that it is a) too late and b) father's club supercedes this.

Otherwise it is just poor parenting.

  • send 'em to school in toxteth mike ....with a red sandwich box

  • This

Otherwise it is just poor parenting.

  • He had to take him to Stanford Bridge

No he didn't. If the little fucker wants to go to that bog then he can buy his own fucking ticket.

  • ^ mind you, the alternative was going to the Emirates, so swings and roundabouts really.

  • All this talk of European coefficients got me wondering.

    41 Liverpool FC ENG 15.671 3.050 12.285 3.357 10.342 44.706

    which compares with

    4 Chelsea FC ENG 26.671 33.050 30.285 28.357 21.342 139.706

    Even Tottenham manage 18th slot.

  • Mike, do let me know when you are coming. It would be good to see you.

I became concerned about my daughters some years ago when they got excited at seeing the open top bus for Arsenal's last double winning season, whenever that was. They were young and enjoyed the crowd. "Can we support Arsenal?" they asked. "No" was my immediate response. The next season I marched them over to Stamford Bridge and then took them around the country watching Chelsea. Now they are firmly established and loyal and can out football any boy.

They might be unemployed and possibly unemployable but I have done my bit as a father.

  • Hahahaha…

  • Some damp sheets in here this afternoon.

My daughters are being raised to be open minded and tolerant. There's fuck all chance of either of them being football fans if it works.

  • Dulwich hamlet 4 lyf.

  • I fucking love Chelsea

  • Chelsea is style and once you know it all the rest is less.

  • Get them to support their local club. It's why this house has a heady mix of CUFC, CFC and FFC.
