I've done the Eroica three times when you could enter it straightaway without the lottery. It is a memorable day on the bike... it is becoming a bit over-commercial these days, but the ride is still superb... there is nothing quite like it anywhere.
Other period rides you should consider: Retroronde in Oudenaarde, understated, low key, but a fantastic weekend on period bikes. Includes a criterium race if you like the adrenaline. The ride itself is a take on the Tour of Flanders, just on different cobbles
Anjou Velo Vintage: doesn't have the Eroica magic, but it is a superbly organised retro ride in the Loire Valley
