I'm gonna be aeropressin - will these be alright for that?
Mainly so I've got some good coffee over xmas, as my current stash of Reykjavik roasted stuff is running low

Bit lower for both buddy, 100 will over extract coffee in no time at all.
Brew temp should be 88-94,
120 will give you almost 1.4bar of steam pressure, which was is plenty. -

When I watch the PID the temp measured at silvia's boiler drops from 103 to 85 over an extraction.

Great tip, I literally had no idea that could happen!

Does anyone know where I can buy an aeropress in central London /Farringdon ideally?
Sorry if it's been mentioned before. -

They sell them at Reynolds cafe (or at least they do at the one across the road from our office on Eastcastle Street)

Thanks all!!

Prufrock have them for 28 quid,
Decent as I need one for Saturday, don't have to pay for next day delivery and get to avoid the madness of Oxford Street this time of year.. -

Absolutely. I've been brewing the BB espresso blend in both my Aeropress and espresso machine. Works perfectly in Aeropress. I'm sure the darker blend will be good too.

Ordered - hopefully have it in time for Xmas, thanks for the tip!
@StevePeel I think the checkout process could have a few improvements to decrease basket abandonment, I can jot them down and message over?

Cool, but I'm sure our website guy is aware; the under-investment in the website makes us all pull our hair out.

I'll be visiting Brighton for xmas and will be looking to pick up some coffee while I'm down there. Does anyone have any local recommendations?

For roasted in Brighton coffee Small Batch have got things sewn up. Good variety and varies from about 4.50 a bag for house blend filter/espresso to 8 or even 12 for their 'Christmas Special'. There's a branch on Jubilee Street which is in the centre of town and has the widest variety on sale as well as a lot of seats and a brew bar. If you're cycling, they have some tie-in with Velo Cafe (Brighton version of LMNH) which is on The Level (park just down the hill and north east of the train station). They'll have beans for sale and bike racks/maintenance/bike 'stuff'.
Ground in Kemp Town buys in lots of nice and interesting beans but nothing you can't get anywhere else in the country (James Gourmet etc).
Coffee @ 33 (on Trafalgar Street) is run by a nice guy and has a good stock but again, the same stuff you'd find elsewhere in the country (esp stuff like Square Mile).
Bond Street Coffee was recently launched (and set up by a young guy who used to work at Coffee @ 33) He's gone into business with a guy who has a roastery in Horsham or somewhere else locally in Sussex but I don't know the quality of coffee.

@StevePeel
Have just ordered the xmas bundle and a 2 times a 3 month single origin coffee subscription. Any chance the first subscription could be sent out at the beginning of January, would like to get two bags of the same coffee each month.

• #10574
Hey that's really helpful, thanks loads for the detailed response!

Hi James, thanks for the order, I'll send out the bundle tomorrow, should get to you before xmas despite yesterday being the stated last postal day. I'll schedule your subscription to start Tuesday 6th Jan if thats OK with you and make a note to send 2 the same.
Cheers
Steve
No, bigger boilers still work on a heat exchange principle, these are inherently unstable with regards brew temp.
