  • I'll be visiting Brighton for xmas and will be looking to pick up some coffee while I'm down there. Does anyone have any local recommendations?

  • For roasted in Brighton coffee Small Batch have got things sewn up. Good variety and varies from about 4.50 a bag for house blend filter/espresso to 8 or even 12 for their 'Christmas Special'. There's a branch on Jubilee Street which is in the centre of town and has the widest variety on sale as well as a lot of seats and a brew bar. If you're cycling, they have some tie-in with Velo Cafe (Brighton version of LMNH) which is on The Level (park just down the hill and north east of the train station). They'll have beans for sale and bike racks/maintenance/bike 'stuff'.

Ground in Kemp Town buys in lots of nice and interesting beans but nothing you can't get anywhere else in the country (James Gourmet etc).

Coffee @ 33 (on Trafalgar Street) is run by a nice guy and has a good stock but again, the same stuff you'd find elsewhere in the country (esp stuff like Square Mile).

Bond Street Coffee was recently launched (and set up by a young guy who used to work at Coffee @ 33) He's gone into business with a guy who has a roastery in Horsham or somewhere else locally in Sussex but I don't know the quality of coffee.
