The thing that really irks me about those cranks is that the "PISTA" isn't aligned properly. I don't know how to describe it in the proper terms, but essentially the baseline isn't equidistant along its length from the centre - if that makes any sense?

I think you are trying to say the font path radius is off centre...

They could reduce the irritation level by only marking the chainring with essential information.

Alter - I knew who made it when I bought it, after that who cares?
BCD/144mm - it only fits your poxy crank, nobody is going to inadvertently offer it up to their Shimano road crank because it doesn't have the pcd marked on it
AL7075/T6 - I knew what you made it from when I bought it, after that who cares?
49T/CNC - I knew how you made it when I bought it, after that who cares?
Pista - I'll be the judge of where I want to use it, just write ⅛" on it if you think I'm too stupid to remember which chain to use.

But tester, that's 99.8% of the bike brands out there.

I think the irritating this is that they were close to making a decent, classic looking external bearing crank, but just did it 'cause it looks cool.

You missed the chainring bolts and extractor cap. And the utterly pointless and incongruous fluting on the outer faces of the crank arms. Even after you've fixed that, you're still left with a fundamentally stupid design.
