If top of seat stays as I see you could get machine shop to knock some replacements up.
(Maybe even a company who stock / produce)
Might be a bit more sightly / secure to.
BTW What the fuck is that Gaston?

Shame.
I've got a bit of a thing for Alan's, but they do seem fragile.
Victory is god, under-rated stuff too.
-
• #98607
aye, you're right there Jim, they are fragile, had an earlier one which was unusual as it had the flatend/ovalised tt that was used on the cx's
the ht had a crack, they seem vulnerable to cracking from vibrations
i allowed into stable becuse of linage to colnago, like the 82-83 merckx
i'd allow a late 70's early 80's de rosa or/and pogliaghi in on these grounds -
• #98608
i read some where triomphe was an nr relacement, and victory sr
-
• #98609
this is the merckx
which will get built in new year with this panto sr gruppo i salvaged from this

5 degrees of separation, ernie built for for eddy, as allegedly did sante pogliaghi, and eddy allegedly used de rosa fork crowns, alan built the dual and carbitubo for ernie
who needs kevin bacon ay?

"Campagnolo introduced Victory and Triomphe as entry level performance groups in 1986, when Nuovo and Super Record were replaced with C Record. The idea was to offer choices that were wider apart in price and quality than the Nuovo Record and Super Record combination before it."
I also read that they were also a concession to those that preferred the style of N/S Record over the new-fangled C-Record.

Got a used one of these for my wife to use as beater/commuter:
According to seller, there were "no issues" apart from maybe a slightly rough HS. Otherwise ready to ride. It arrived the other day so I tore it apart to check everything, as I'm changing some things ie shimergo-ing it etc. Behold the amazing skills of its former owner.
Clever alternative cable use
Clever use of water inside frame to lubricate BB
The bars were expertly wrapped with custom finishing tape
And the stem bolts had been upgraded to custom IKEA screws with custom soft steel. Fortunately I had the special custom tool (power drill) to remove them.
Not to mention custom special ungreased hubs and worn out brake pads/rotors etc etc etc
At least I'll have something to do for a couple of weeks. Sigh.... -

I just updated mine with risers and a decent photoshoot.

90% there with 650b conversion; just waiting on these to get it on road. 11 speed 105 build (50/34; 11-32; 105 hubs on VO Diagonale rims). Will get 45mm black Bluemels.
Took it for rear brakeless spin around me on rough road surfaces .. its so much fun hardly can feel anything at 40psi; tyres roll nice and NO TOE OVERLAP !!
Fit will stay like this with tweaks to saddle level and handlebar hood position etc. Its going to get this bar tape

wow what a beauty! well done
-
• #98621
That looks amazing. this 650b lark seems to make nice bikes look even nicer...

Looks great, especially on a smaller frame. I've always been interested in it for myself because big 700c tyres on small frames always look a bit odd to me.
Not sure on the bar tape choice though. So is this the solution to your locking outdoor frame from a quiet a few pages back?
-
• #98623
That looks great Amey, you will regret selling it in a couple of weeks' time.
Horrible choice of bar tape though, it's not going to go well with the headset.
-
• #98624
Amey you've built a good looking bike there

650b, lol.
alan build suffered a set back, hairline cracks at stay tips and the left tip has cracked through, meaning it separates, exposing the bolt attaching to seat post
frame cost practicaly nothing, and combined with a used victory gruppo, was intended as a beater/commuter
i will see if i can get the stays welded, as i think it would be a shame to bin it
