  • @mmccarthy I'm not so keen on a metal gear remake for pc, the gamecube one they added crouch and it entirely messed up the way the game plays, sure it made replaying different but I didn't want different tbh and lots of situations you could stealth you had to shoot instead.

  • That's Twin Snakes though, completely agree with you on that. But the Legacy Collection is just a port of all of the Metal Gear games (including the old NES/MSX ones). Nothing changed, just optimised for modern consoles with a higher resolution .

  • That sound good, but again, I can't imaging Metal Gear Solid looking better at a higher resolution.

  • What are the controls like?
I have to say that having gone from a PC gamer back to a console, it is really nice having a controller with correctly mapped buttons.

Obviously this is an option with a PC too I guess but its made, for example, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 a lot easier to play than Dark Souls 1 on my, admittedly, laggy laptop.

(for anyone who's interested, 20+ hours in, and only one more invasion to report, which was comical as they didn't even manage to hurt me. Wailed away with a big two handed stick of something-or-other, but couldn't grind down my stamina, and then I just rolled and hit them a few times. Rinse/repeat. I was fully expecting to get massive bleed/poison damage, a-la Life Hunt in DS1, but nothing. Its almost made invasions seem even worse in my opinion)

  • Spot on, playing it with a 360 controller and everything is very intuitive. Seems to be put together with the 360 controller in mind though.

  • I'd say 2, 3 and Peace Walker could all do with a bit of a facelift without ruining the look.

  • Have you played the HD versions? I thought 3 looked pretty okay at that point (but that probably says as much about my recent videogames experience #10yearslate)

Not sure it would be possible to spruce up 2 / Peace Walker much without totally re-building them, due to the platforms they were originally created for?

  • I haven't, not got a PS3 unfortunately. Tempted to buy one with the Legacy Collection. But that would mean buying a monitor to play it on also.

I think 3 still looks pretty good by modern standards, but I don't think an update would ruin the experience, unlike MGS1. Then again maybe I'm just more nostalgic about MGS1.

  • i want alien on mac :(

  • Just finished the main part of Ground Zeros, pretty grim. Can't bloody wait for The Phantom Pain! Really can't overstate how great of a PC port it is, though I'm not a huge fan of Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss, hoping David Hayter has a role in The Phantom Pain.

  • Some Dark Souls (original) gifs :)

  • hm.. PSN down

  • OK so i'm way behind the curve on the Dark Souls 2 post earlier in the thread unhappy about the PvP. I would have really agreed with this for a while. I was relentlessly invaded by players i just couldnt beat and was always terrified when i was invaded. But slowly over time as i have built up a character where invaders rarely have a chance against me. Love it when i corner a wriggly little faith build in a corridor and batter the shit out of them with my tank. You can see the panic in the way they move. Stick with it i guess is the message. Ultimately it comes good!

  • Gog.com have a sale on Square Enix stuff at the moment.

    Fill yer boots.

  • Currently addicted to Heathstone.

  • I'm still unsure about invasions - or the current implementation. I've won a few and lost a few, and the higher level ones have generally been fine. But I just don't see the point of letting people be ganked at any point right at the start of the game.

Otherwise its fine and I'm now at a point where I would probably like to be invaded more, but it isn't happening at all for me atm. Shrug

  • Also loving Nidhogg and got Shovel knight to play.

  • I recently got The Last of Us for cheap second hand. It's pretty good, pretty harrowing though. Also some parts are damn hard to sneak around the zombies without ending up fighting them.

  • I just bought a Wii U.... :-s

  • Welcome...

  • Anyone got experience of the PS Vita? Treated myself to one largely to replay the MGS games and other PS1/2 classics. Unfortunately as I have been a solely PC/DS user for the last 6/7 years I'm finding the cost of games a bit off-putting. As well as the fact that digital downloads cost more than physical copies!

  • I bought a Mario amiibo® this morning... #megadork

  • Does Watchdogs need a code to play online like Last of Us did?

Need to know before I buy on eBay.

    Ta x

  • MMccarthy, i has a vita. Not sure if it would be my sole console of choice.
I was an early adopter and a playstation fanboi. Most of the games ive played are Boomerang rentals or PS+ freebies. Not payed for manym

Depending on your gaming preferences, wipeout is good, killzone is good, Motorstorm RC is great fun (a bit micromachines from yore), if youve not played TellTales Walking Dead they are fantastic.
You can get game + memory card bundles which are a good deal.

Also you can use it to remote play ps4 games. Which is brilliant.

  • I think Ubisoft etc killed that practice a while back now...
