  • Is BB open Christmas Eve or the day before?

  • Yes mate, open until midday christmas eve.

  • It might but mine normally gets drunk before that point.
That said I generally drink it warm as oppposed to hot. Better flavours as it cools with most coffees I think.

  • Steve - The 'Milk Buster' blend looks a bit interesting, is that a new one?

  • Is there still an offer code @StevePeel ?

  • Silvia ordered from BB - happy christmas to us!

  • Bought one of these about 6 weeks ago.
At full price, yeah there are other burr grinders that are better (defo if you are grinding for an espresso portafilter type machine), but if drip/cafetierre/osmosis are your thing, get one!

Main reason for me buying it, its really small, quick and quiet. 5-6 seconds gets me 12 grams at drip'able size of grind. We have an extremely limited kitchen, the only surface is a 800x800mm unit jammed between sink and hob. So it had to be a small grinder (its smaller footprint than my hand grinder used to be, and quieter/less annoying) and the cable tucks away under it making for a really neat and tidy install.

The hopper also has a very solid silicon seal on it, so leaving it full of beans isn't killing puppies.

Retail is about £130? You can get them online for ~£80 all day, Costco have them for £65 posted at the minute, only in red, but thats the best colour ;)

  • Also anyone want a £1 Pact coffee voucher?
    "JAMES-TDSDGQ"
If I get 5 shares I get a free grinder, you know, for travelling ;)

  • Yes mate, it's a proper old fashioned Italian style job - very roasty, will be starting to show a few oil drops by the time it reaches customers.

My choice would be the Brasil Daterra in preference to the Milkbuster, nice and chocolatey without tasting of carbon.

  • Sorry Tenderloin, that's expired now.

  • Glad you said - PM me your real name

  • Ignore that, I've found your order. Your real name is Dan.

  • I'll give the Daterra a shot Steve [I dropped a half bag of the gaslight in on my local coffee shop this morning to try as they often get guest roasts in]

  • The hopper also has a very solid silicon seal on it, so leaving it full of beans isn't killing puppies.

Just be careful with buildup of oils in the hopper/burrs, that's the main reason good cafés empty them out and clean them daily. Too long and the oils go rancid.

  • Ha - my internet persona is severely lacking in mystery :)

  • looking for a decent subscription service, about 500g per month

would rather get interesting single origins than blends

might just go for hasbean again - last time I only got 250g sub and by and by the time i was happy with the shots i was pulling the bag would have run out

are there any other subscription services worth looking at?

  • How about playing with home machines ;)

  • Why is a double boiler better? Just wondering?

  • one boiler for coffee, one for steam

so you can do the milk just after pulling a shot rather than waiting for a single boiler to warm up to steaming temperature

  • But would a bigger boiler get round that issue? Or a single shot and not a double mean there is the steam still there?

Have a few machines, wnat to buy one, and I have frothed milk once maybe twice.

  • different temperatures innit

coffee extraction around 100, steaming approx 140 or higher

one boiler to create hot water, one for steam

  • That is interesting comment on temps as the temp switches on the gaggia's are different. Boiling point is higher than 100, while the steam is lower...120 rings a bell.

But a commercial machine, that only has two heads, only has one boiler.

  • Pact are great, the head of coffee is an old friend of mine, he sources some really good green beans.
