  • Are there any nuts and bolts that I should def not replace with Ti ones on my bike... I ask not from a weight weenie perspective but from an oxidization one.

I have tried coating parts with a film of grease and/or oil but one its messy and two it has not worked. Daily humidity ranges from 65% to 96% with an average of about 80%. Bike stored in a PVC shed with decent ventilation. Any ideas welcome.

  • Grease serves two roles: preventing latent torque within the bolt and excluding electrolytes for galvanic corrosion.

    Grease breaks down over time.

If it needs to move, grease it. If it doesn't, threadlock.

Can't think of any off the top of my head. Disc rotor screws can be problematic, not because the shank can't handle the shear load but because the tiny driver on button heads tends to wreck the socket head. Torx Ti are hard to find.
