Idle curiosity, nothing more. Link to page 7 because it's the only one still with a photo. -

Yep! the very same...

Id say heated seat, grips and muffs ;)

Having been running around on a friends gas gas 250 2 stroke supermoto thing and that has been alot of fun.

Anyone know if a mixture screw on a carb (in particular a delortto carb on a 2 stroke engine) controls the mixture over the entire throttle range or only on tickover?
-
• #5659
I think it controls overall mix but jets do it over the range, so needle valve to pilot jet to main jet (from rusty memory)

Anyone know anyone who specialises in (or is sympathetic towards) vintage 2 strokes in SE London or Central?
Need a MOT and the carb cleaned out on my '52 Francis Barnett and can't be arsed doing it myself. -
• #5661
Where abouts in SE?
-
• #5662
At idle and just after, as a sort of rule of thumb nothing to 1/8 throttle is idle circuit the rest is needle.

Deptford.

PM you

On all the carbs I've played with its just been the idle mixture, and the jets do the rest.

@7VEN and @EB , that's what I thought. Which is annoying as rejecting the carb(s) is going to be a lot more work.
It's the derny bikes at my work.
They ran better with the cone air filter removed from the carb so I'm figuring they are normally running too rich and removing the filter allowed more air in and leaned it out a bit.

2 strokes are also affected by needle height in the float chamber.
What carb and bike is it? Has someone replaced the carb for a bigger than standard?
-
• #5668
Carbs are fascinating… smaller jets and keep the air filters?
-
• #5669
The expansion chamber is fundamental too, but you can't touch that by yourself…

Life is beautifull… basically.
-
• #5671
Could be a worn needle and jet, depending on the carb. Hence finding a little more info.
-
• #5672
All sounds a bit beyond what I'm comfortable with when the bike isn't mine. I'm trying to get a motorcycle mechanic on contract to look after them, just wondered if they could be made better with a light tinker.
-
• #5673
Do you feel capable enough to take the carb off the bike and open the carb up and spray carb cleaner in there?
What is the spark plug colour?

There are quite a few variations, but you might get lucky. I've yet to find anything specific to the version made by Trojan under licence...
Try the DelOrtto link on:

I motorcycled about 2000km from Pune to Delhi in 4 days on that; was awesome.
Where'd you be getting the ferry from?
Ie plan some forum trips from Newcastle so that I and other less southerly located forumengers can consider them.
