Eriksen showing his eye for a goal once again, Kane again putting in an all action performance (do think the praise from Didi Hamann was a bit over the top on MOTD2), and Spurs pulling out an edge of the seat last minute win.
Got Burnley at home on the weekend, so we'll probably lose that one, been much better/luckier* (*delete as appropriate) away from home this season, so home games are the ones to fear. But we're still there or thereabouts for the CL 4th Place Trophy. With the return of Walker we seem to have got some semblance of balance in the back line and he will always put in a shift going forward.
We've got two eminently winnable games @ home to Burnley, away to Leicester, before the Christmas/New Year Crunch of @ home to Man U, @ home to Chelsea in the space of five days. Even though I want to say those two games may well define our season, with how tight the places 4-10 are, seperated by 7 points, not sure losses to both of them would be catastrophic.
If bods are around on the 28th, will be watching Spurs Man U in the Effra, more the merrier..

Interesting draw, the only shame is that Real got the easiest tie.

Hope we get Monaaco in the QF

I'm 50/50 for tomorrow night, having a tough time shaking this virus off... Not sure drinking is the best medicine, four pints on Friday night didn't do me much good... Told you I was ill, @Multi_Grooves...

We don't do hubris, Clive...

I will miss you all too.
I was pleased to squeeze Joseph of Derby in for Damo and to get a good mention of the Florists in there fore your personal amusement.
Nothing about tents. I need some material spare in case you are promoted.

Corney, dear chap. Three points but not exactly a good performance. A very lucky three points. Could easily have lost.

"How do you spend more than £215 million on transfer and loan fees and
sign 24 footballers but end up with only two who have significantly
improved your first team? You hire Liverpool's infamous "Transfer Committee."
-
• #113339
To be honest, I think it's too early to judge the "transfer committee"
I think in terms of success this year, they were the wrong purchases, but apart from Lambert (backup), and Balotelli (has a track record of success, it was gamble that was worth it at that price) they are all young players, quite a few years away from their prime. Even Balotelli is young, though may have his best football behind him.
I'm sure they could have spent all the money on 2 or 3 ageing super stars, and done better this year, but what's the point.
It's not the Rodgers or FSG way to spend that way, they prefer to look to the future. I think this time they have done so too much though.
Look at Henderson. People thought we were mad paying what we did for him, but last year, and at points this year, he was one of our best players, and probably our future captain.
Lallana, Moreno, Manquillo (if we sign him), Lovren, Markovic, Origi all have their best years ahead of them, and what seems a disaster now might save us a lot of money in the long term.
It's frustrating now, and Rodgers is not getting the best out of them, but I still believe in the system.
What we do need is a solid goalie, as an alternative to Mignolet, and someone who can actually score (maybe even getting Origi from loan would be enough). The rest will work itself out.

TL;DR - "Next season could be our season..."
-
• #113341
John, let's not gloss over the fact that you "only" lost one player. Wasn't it BR that said that no player is bigger than the club and that the team is more than just the one individual? He said that when Suarez left Liverpool would "move on". Shame is that they moved on in the wrong direction.
It's the second time that LFC have spunked a tonne of money up the wall with little to show for it. Spurs made the same mistake a year earlier with the Bale money yet LFC still thought it was the right path to take.
At least Spurs have proven to be consistent, albeit with a delusional chairman in charge, whereas LFC had a "blip" by finishing second.

inspired by the main talking point of the weekend I am really gonna go for a bit of diving tonight for the last 6aside game of the season.
de gea got motm yesterday but actually only made one truly great save - from balotelli on to the bar. the other from the balotelli low shot was decent but the rest you had to say were down to the very poor finishing of sterling and the rest.
3-0 flattered us bat as @Buckaroo says after all the baiting from last year it is good to put a run together. particularly at the expense of the old foe

• #113343
spurs lucky again. but not complaining as i have had my arm twisted in to the works fantasy team and erikssen got me some decent points.

I will also be there if I can shift this virus overnight. They do have medicine South of the river, right? Not just crack and heroin.

Very good Clive. I would point out though that Dave Brailsford lives in Quarndon, a village attached to the edge of the city.
4/10 keep trying.
