Some good news. My mate spotted his stolen bike today (stolen two months ago) whilst on the way to work, so he promptly went to a tool hire shop in order to borrow an angle grinder. Wahey!

Sorry to bother you all, this is my first time posting as a friend has recommended me to. I had my bike stolen last night from inside my house - I live on Kingsland Road in Hackney. It's a Charge Plug 2012, I had it recently resprayed at Armourtex with 5004 gloss and had new wheels put on it too. Along with original charge brown leather tape and seat. It has great sentimental value to me and would really appreciate if anyone sees it to comment here. I have contacted the police and am frantically searching gumtree/bikeshd and the usual places.
Really appreciate the help form all of you on LFGSS,
Thanks so much.
Liam

So does anyone ave any experience of buying bikes back at Brick Lane in case that is how it plays out. What time should I expect to get there?
I have a crime number and it has been reported as burglary, is the any point in calling police if I see it a BL.
Also what sort of price do they sell used bikes for?

Only five per cent of bikes using a D-Lock were stolen

Bikes with cable or chain locks accounted for 73 per cent of thefts
Only five per cent of bikes using a D-Lock were stolenIt's not really clear what they mean is it? 5% of all bikes using a d-lock get stolen? Or of all stolen bikes only 5% had been locked with a d-lock? Which would leave 22% unaccounted for?
Also what is the significance of 47 per cent of cycle theft takes place in autumn/winter months? About half are taken in autumn/winter and the other half in the other six months of the year? So what?

22% use shoelaces or rubberbands
-
• #12115
I'm guessing 22% are break ins and people who rest bikes against walls while they pop into shops.

Hi all
They got me good. I've had both my 2010 BMC Streetfire and my beloved Greg Lemond fixed gear bike stolen. The Lemond had bull horns fitted at the time, rather than the drops as pictured. I'd appreciate if you could share this and keep your eyes and ears open.
Thank you
Mark

Hello, I found a bike in the early hours of Sunday morning in Camberwell. It's a pretty nice ladies bike, and the shop keeper said it had been there all night. I presumed that it had maybe been stolen and discarded with a flat tyre and broken brakes. If you know anyone who had their bike stolen yesterday in South London, please get in touch.

Some **** Stole my Charge Stove on Bricklane yesterday around lunch time.
If anyone sees it or can get a hold of it there's a cash reward available. The picture posted is of a standard off the shelf model, differences would be mine is quite stickered up (notably a big red supreme sticker on the top tube, and a dudebox one on the down tube), has big pedal straps from blb, single speed with a VERY loud BLB superior freewheel and only a rear brake, blb mars stem and freestyle bars all in black, A-Bike Edwin Delarosa grips, and Charge Nozzle forks so the clearance on the front wheel looks massive.
This bike is pretty scratched up, its not the sort of thing you'd usually see riding around, but if anyone does any help is greatly appreciated. A lot of sentimental value in that bike, pretty vexed to see it taken.

Just had a black Brooks Team Pro nicked off my bike outside Waitrose on St. John Street.
Not likely to see it again, but security said there'd been a spate of thefts in the last week or so, so lock your bike (and components!) more carefully than I did if you're round there...
