• So - this project completely faded away as the problems with my back have worsened and worsened. Luckily, after some amazing work from my Physio*, lots of stretching, pilates and testing stuff out, last month I got to a point where I could ride 100km without pain in my lower back.

I've been getting some kilometers back in, getting my legs back up to shape and trying to wrestle my heartrate back down to normal so I could ride the Festive 500 - something I'd loosely targeted as an end-of-year goal, as I failed the last one due to aforementioned back problems.

However, in the midst of all those good vibes, on Saturday I stacked it like a sack of shit on the iec in Epping, and this happened: Derailleur hanger didn't snap, took a chunk of the drop-out with it.

Luckily, I'm fine, all the parts are fine and the damage is minimal.

So I'm now considering my options:

There's a 48cm SuperSix (not an EVO model) on eBay, which would at least get me riding for the Festive 500, but it's about £500 and it seems rash to instantly buy a replacement. There was also a 48cm Cervelo on eBay, so frame of this size aren't the rarest.

Some mates are trying to talk me in to getting a tiny Caad10, or parting all the bits over to a winter bike, but I'm not sold on the idea.

I've emailed some carbon repair places: CBS in Derbyshite (gets a good rep on here) and Carbon Bike Repair in Surrey**. Dammit has also mentioned @vavas of this shire, although I'm yet to get in touch.

I've be on the blower to CSG on Monday to talk about their crash replacement program, and what they've got hanging around the warehouse...

Anyone else got any smart ideas?
