Thanks HHC, and then I haven't showed you the best part of the stem yet. ;)
When it's done I'll make sure to get some decent photos but here's the idea
All painted, no watertransfer / no decal nothing. Excellent craftmanship.

Excellent choice of tires! Loving the 'neo classic' look.
Rear derailleur cable will be trimmed I guess?

This is lovely mate

Thanks.
@ Reinier89 - maybe a bit but not too much. I like my shifting fluent. ;) It's more to get an idea of the total colour combination at the moment.

End result so far:
Only thing I really don't like is the handlebar tape. I bought it hoping it would match but I'm afraid it doesn't. I've just ordered the slate Brooks cambium tape to match the saddle. I noticed the Brooks is rather thin so you easily see cables running underneath. I'll just have to wait and see when it arrives.

Very nice .
Indeed the handlebar tape is not a Perfect match
-

Lovely indeed.
Aside from the bar tape as mentioned, I also don't think the wheels quite work with it
The rest is all absolutely spot on though
-
• #34
Very nice. As u said the handlebars don't match but for me I think the wheels look fine.
-
• #35
@ Ollie: regarding the wheels, what exactly doesn't match in your opinion? Curious to hear your opinion since I think the wheels look amazing in the make. Personal taste of course :)

On closer inspection over my cup of tea, I think the wheels are actually alright - it's the tyres throwing me off. I don't know if it's a filter or saturation setting on that photo but the walls look a little too orange. 'Proper' gum colour or black ftw

They're just clean :)
-
• #38
Very nice .. as said shame about the bar tape as it detracts from the rest of the build, but easily fixed
-
• #39
That is lovely. Can you let us know who did the paint?
-
• #40
All very personal, but Brooks tape is expensive, faux-retro wankery: perforated Fizik Microtex FT (vintage-look) W.
And while I'm picking holes in your rather lovely, painstaking build; I agree that the rims don't sit quite right: too bright, too deep? Can't put my finger on it, but...

Sure can!

Nico is a very nice, bikeloving guy with great attention to detail. For me this only shows by the fact that he never uses any watertransfers / decals whatsoever. Of course for masking he does but the final result is only paint, nothing else.

This version is rather okay, it's €34,-. A regular leather one goes for €50,- which I agree, is expensive.
This Brooks slate version will match the colour of the saddle perfectly, something I prefer and really like in my other bike i.e.
Regarding the wheels, it could be too shiny. It's a polished rim but imho fits perfectly with the Athena groupset and Chorus hubs. We could of course simply have a different taste. ;)

Thanks for this. Was planning on going to Stalen Ros next year, looks like he's on the way!

Excellent combination. I was on Stalen Ros Gent this year, imo nice but no place anymore to find yourself a bargain whatsoever.

We could of course simply have a different taste. ;)
Which is what makes the world go around...
Chapeau!

out of interest what seatpost & tires do you have on your ti bike?
-
• #47
PMP ti seatpost & Continental Grand Prix Classic, only available in 25mm.

End result looks superb!

So I mounted the cambium slate bartape, took a few shots this afternoon. I'm happy with the result. It was a pain in the arse to wrap though, soaking in water for a few minutes did the trick for me. Then I was able to stretch it in a normal way.

Looking much better with the new tape. The carbon spacer underneith the stem does seem somewhat out of place though on this bike.
Looks good. I am continously impressed by the purple stem. I think this is the only thing I've seen that's been able to pull it off.
