It might of been me... I hate hearing "I don't even open my 35mm photos in PS" like they are some high and mighty artist.
All photoshop is is a digital darkroom.
Quick tip @Vesalius, and this is just IMO/best practise I was told for print prep (which I did for 5 years) is to hold down ALT when pulling levels in to make sure you always have a speck or black and a speck of white each end. Can also be done sans ALT in curves with "show clipping" tick box ticked and the curves interface has more scope for correction/is easier to control. Although a professional photographer friend of mine disagrees and says Photography is Art not science, so I guess whatever you feel works for you...
