  • Ever notice how the Pinnacle Arkose is now suddenly an "adventure" bike despite no change in geometry?

It's just CX bike with a low BB.

  • a wild designation has appeared!

    use $$$
    use £££

  • @greeno how do you pedal with the axes in the way?

  • no idea, it's from the link BareNecessities posted http://microcosm.app/out/MtGCg

  • Hybrid with dropbars doesn't sound as good.

  • I'm off to Dartmoor tomorrow for some camping. Can't wait, cold n' fresh. New Jones Loop H-bar in Carbon and Wildcat Tom Cat bag, great setup, really happy with it.

  • Don't suppose you upgraded from standard Jones bars, did you?
    Good looking steed there!

  • jealous. looks rapid

  • No sorry, just tried someone elses!

  • Ergons saved my life!
    Great looking traveller.

  • Ordered another alpkit bag for myself. It's 2nds should be able to review how 2nds in next few days.

  • apparently it's just the buckles feel a little cheap.

  • I'd be really interested to hear how you get on/ got on with this trip as I want to get out now and do some camping myself, I'm just a bit concerned I'd freeze to death...

What did you sleep in and where, and what was the weather/ temperature like?

  • It was cold, about -4ºC. I slept in a single wall tent (Six Moon Designs - Lunar Solo) and a 3 season sleeping bag in a bivvy bag. I wore a down jacket too, and 3 pairs of socks and all my cycling clothes still on. I was warm enough, no problem. Not as warm as I would have been at home in bed, but still not too bad.

We camping in a ruined settlement near Dartmeet, not supposed to camp there, but the next part of the route was a 5 mile trudge across open moorland, and it was windy up there and sub-zero, best to stop and tackle that in the morning.

  • PSA:

Zefal Gizmo (myo bottle/gear cage attachments) are 30% off at Cycle Surgery at the mo, so 3.50 instead of fiver.

    Dunno if cheaper elsewhere already.

  • .

  • Some advice please on seatpacks?
The Alpkit Koala is a bit too much cash for my needs so I'm thinking of getting an Airlok-xtra for light use in the summer. Can I get away with some compression straps threaded though the hooks to attach it to the seatpost? I'm wondering if it'll be stable enough?

  • Won't be as hard wearing as the Koala or other offerings but it is cheap... seen a few pictures of it being used, seems to work...

  • That's the one I linked to :)
Don't worry though, I've just realised that all the Koala has to fit it to the seat post is a few straps so I'll just need to get some for the Airlok Xtra.

  • Sneaky edit on my part... got mixed up with tabs I had open already and what you'd actually linked to!

  • Ha, no worries.

  • At first thought it had three sites and you had to cycle between them each day

    May 1st, waddon hall; may 2nd, clitheroe; may 3rd, lancs;

    Literally a cycle touring festival...

Actually I think my idea is better.
