Freewheel experience so-far...
Shimano - destroyed 2 of these
BLB Superior/Royal (120 click, comes rebranded by GT and others, needs a dumb 8 pin tool to remove) - destroyed 2 of eachWI Trails - have 2 (29er and pol0), both working as well as they day I bought them and they've absolutely no care or mechanical attention (I did think there was some play in one, but it turns out the issue was elsewhere). Peak District grit is pretty destructive too, but they're still turning nicely.

Thanks guys, I reckon I'll go with the clickster just to annoy @BareNecessities on the epping rides :)

I can't hear anything over the sound of this.
-
• #255
That thing is ridiculously loud.
-
• #256
Do you live near Epping Forest, or did the whole of London hear it O.o
-
• #257
Southern Germany. It's that loud.

I would guess that @mdcc_tester would approve of this move to build bespoked bikes that are useful and not only show bikes.

Halo, or the cheapest Dicta one.
-
• #260
I would guess that @mdcc_tester would approve
Yeah, because we all saw how well that worked out the last time the brief was 'practical transport'

• #261
oh god, I've forgotten about that!

1/8" chains: 1Z1 for outdoors, 1R8 for track
Any @mdcc_tester approved 1/8" chain (for outdoor, fixed-gear use) in black?
-
• #263
There is no answer to your enquiry, I have yet to see a blacking process for non-stainless steel which can get anywhere near galvanisation for corrosion resistance.
One of my "Euromillions wish list" projects is a 1R8 in stainless steel with a MoST or similar coating, which is a very dark grey, so there's that :-)

It used to be the Wipperman, but I couldn't find anyone that sold them last time i looked so I got the basic Izumi which is only a few quid more expensive but just as good as far as i can tell
-
• #265
Thanks, silver 1Z1 it is then.
Let me know when you win the euromillions!

possibly hkk vertex.
so durable very black(the blue one)

Wipperman, but I couldn't find anyone that sold them last time i looked

1z1 is more white than silver.

I know 'tester approves of the Phil wood track cogs but has he tried the condor Polised CNC ones? £19.99, easier to get hold of and I really haven't noticed the difference against my phil one, maybe a hard winter will show a difference.

Is there an approved tyre pressure gauge?
The SKS Airchecker perhaps?
-
• #272
Second that. Mine's doing really well. Obnoxiously loud too :)
-
• #273
The Schwalbe one (AirMax?) works OK.

• #274
Is there an approved tyre pressure gauge?
Pump gauge on the Rennkompressor (for high pressure) or Aircon 6.0 (low pressure) is all I use.

As good a reason as any to upgrade the pump.
While I've got your attention, I lent my KCNC pump head out and now the lever won't stay closed: any suggestions (apart from don't lend it out)?
