The only issue I've found so far with Old mtb>>monsteur conversion with risers/alien bars is that you're so far behind the BB, that it can get a bit uncomfortable over very long distances.
Going to head down the drop bar route to see how it fares with more weight forward. -

Probably depends on what most of your riding will be though eh?
When I put drops on my 1x1 with a normal stem (can't remember if it were 110mm or 120mm) I felt way too far forward when I was riding off road or in technical stuff like stairs. Took putting a very short stem on for me to be comfortable.

Awesome. Is that a Campa carbon crank?

Looks like the same set up I use on my pompetamine. Chorus 10 speed carbon. Might be one of the black anodised alu models though.

^^^^ I like that.. Thinking of a platform type rack for the front of my build. That one appears to be a CETMA and their half rack looks great, just not sure it'd work with panniers and it's pretty expensive..
^ Nice, what rack is that?

Wow. Coaster braked monsteur, Terrifying skids. Decidely unknickable.

Thanks. The rack is of a city bike called Crescent Apple bay. I quite like it, it's aluminium, reasonably light and sturdy enough for a case of beer. Since selling the Peregrine I've installed the rack to my Crescent 601.

Huh, I just sold (a few months ago) a claud butler oracle rigid mtb. I now regret it after seeing this thread. I only sold it for £20!

Forgive the poor photo, this is my 2014 Croix De Fer 931 with 650b wheels and 2.1" smart sam tyres. They rub on the guards so I'm thinking of removing them for the worst of the winter and just run a beaver tail and a mylar front guard.
The only thing I'm worried about is there is only a couple of mm clearance between the chain stays and the tyre and the fork and the tyre. Am I going to ruin my bike if I ride it on fire trails and paths??

Also, also: Magura rim brakes but the lever doesn't look Magura or hydraulic? Gypsie magic?

More likely the Devils work!

If you are riding real dirty it'll clug up fast - but semi dry trails will keep your grin afar.

That's where I found it. Would like to know what the guards are..
