  • Fuck me, read your post wrong. Post it here when you find what you are looking for.

  • HAH! Cheers all the same fella. Biggest offset I've found is some Ritcheys with 48mm, but they cost twice what I paid for the frameset and are therefore a ridiculous proposition, even if they were in budget.

Hadn't thought to look for Chinese Crabon though, so will get stuck in.

  • carbon low trail fork?
    what a hipster.

  • Life aficionado <3

  • I just wanna ride my biek, mang.

  • Forgot to reply to you! I could live with similar, have done on other bikes. Imagine the end of the mudguard stay hitting your toe, roughly where the white bit on your trainer ends :/

It's fine for commuting, but took the mudguards off and went riding mtb trails in the woods and it was a right fuck on. You're probably right re: suitability there, though.

  • I have a question regarding the Pomp's Matt Raw finish - how does it fare with wet conditions?

I'm wondering about long term - a bike to ride and leave locked outside in rainy weather. From personal experience I learned that clear coated bare steel tends to rust pretty quickly.

  • It won't be as durable on the long term.

  • @Mheldring I was expecting that to be the case but was hoping to hear something different I guess, cheers for the reply!

  • Will be keeping a close eye on how the raw finish holds up. Guy at LBS has his doubts. Currently using a lot of muc off finish and protect spray.
If the worst happens already planned a re spray in bright orange !

  • Been reading through this thread a lot lately, the temptation is definitely there. Some very dump questions to follow: which disc forks would suit a build like this? and can you mount a rear disc to the 2014 model?

  • You could get any CX disc fork, I believe and someone on here has indeed converted this to have a rear disc. Voila!

@Hulsroy added some custom-made dropouts and respaced the rear a tad.

    Build thread

  • That's so nice! Which forks are those?

  • Specialized Sirrus Alu

(Pro tip: read the build thread)

  • I'm a sarcastic bastard at times

  • Some changes to suit a bit of cx fun.

  • you mean mount a rear disc brake via some adapter/hack to pompino? Why not get a pompetamine?

  • They don't seem to sell them anymore... =/

  • ....just bought the last pompino in small, what are the widest tires you can fit with mudguards?

  • Depends on the tyres and the mudguards (and gearing too)

(Without guards I've managed a 35 in one brand, and had another brands 32 not fit)

  • 45mm mudguard, and 32mm tyres (latter depend as @Khornight2's rightly said).

  • I got 35mm Pasela's on mine with guards.

  • I thought I'd ask on here before I bought a new set, does anyone have a set of pompino forks (or similar) they'd like to get rid of? For a ropey winter commuter build.

  • ...decided not to fit guards (already have other bikes for that), so will try 35mm tyres. thanks guys!
