One day Clive, one day it will be Chelsea providing the LOLs. It may
not be next year or the one after, but one day they will and it will
be gloriousI lived through the late 1970s and early 1980s when Chelsea was the victim of over ambitious ground development coupled with a major economic turn down and soaring interest rates. We have emerged from that into a period of massive money being available from a global football watching market.
While it is possible that Chelsea (and any other club) might suffer from poor management and other circumstances, the chances are diminishing for bigger more successful clubs. Financial Fair Play is there to ensure that those who are already rich can stay rich and those who are not can never compete. If Liverpool slip up too much now, there could be no way back.

I have lived through the 90s, 2000s and 2010s and we are still shit. So really there isn't much else that could go wrong. Would getting relegated and wining the Championship be better than never winning the Premier League? Probably

All this talk of "who I support" makes me look at Jonathon Wilson's bit in this quarter's blizzard:
"I wish I was born in Liverpool Mam. Then I wouldn't have to support Sunderland"THREAD ENDS.

AVB really wouldn't be that bad a choice (besides, who else would you be able to get?).
He's a pretty decent manager who happened to end up at two clubs with pretty toxic/clique ridden dressing rooms and total c***s running them. I think he got a raw deal at both clubs and should have been given more time.
Yes, I support Spurs. I honestly don't think Pocchetino is any better than AVB. -

If it was a choice between Rodgers and AVB then obviously stick with Rodgers!

Interesting discussion on the guardians podcast re: Wenger and Arsenal. What a mess. I can't be bothered to paraphrase - go listen to it. I can't find a link on the Guardian's disaster of a new website.
Great post. Would read again. Top insight.

I think what they say has been clear for some time. Wenger won't be sacked, even if the club fail to qualify for the CL next season. He is meeting the owner's ambition season in, season out so, as far as Kroenke is concerned, he's doing an excellent job.

But a few less books will probably be written.
