It was an interesting feeling seeing bike trundle off down the conveyer belt at bag drop off that's for sure. Like watching a funeral casket.
Nice thing about the airnimal case is that there's plenty of room in it (it's supposed to have the trailer bits in it too, but I left these at home as I'm not towing anything) and the bike comes out / goes in in one piece. So should the TSA folks poke about they should be able to get it back in without any difficulty.
What scares me about those (now) is learning that the TSA open every bag and have a rummage- and often re-pack bikes with a "that'll do" approach.
I'd hate to pull my bike out of the box in Colorado to discover it's been mangled.
