  • Nah, if in budget I say get what she wants. I bet everyone in here has had a shit watch at some point...still do.

  • ^ That.

Get her a mccarthy intergalactic fuel-calculating tachymetric 8-sub-dial solar powered swamp monster! So much more functional you can tell her :-)

  • get her what she wants and stop imposing your ideals. or carry on, whatever.

  • Or just do what the forum thinks, and buy a Seiko.

  • Got a new steinhart from my bidet

  • Whut?!

  • Looking at getting a Seiko 5.

    Undecided between the SNK809:

    and the Sport SNZG15:

  • I like the simplicity of these ... 34mm Slow-Mo from Slow Watches. The smaller face looks better to me than the 38mm ones, which have the numerals outside the increments.

  • How big are your wrists? My brother has the former and I have the latter, the first one is definitely on the small side. Looks good with a decent NATO strap though.

  • That's what I'm struggling to judge. People are saying it's real small. Some 'action' shots I've seen are deceiving in regards to wrist size

  • B__

She doesn't care about cool; she wants MK. My misses is always lecturing me about refusing to buy people what they want or would like when that thing they want / like is shit.

I say it's up to us all not to cave into bad design / branding/ whatfuckingever. Stand strong, she'll have finished crying by boxing day anyway.

It like listening to my own national anthem.

  • seen this on the devils own amazon for £80 down from £325

question becomes is it any good/robust enough to last longer than the quartz michael kors?
Tell you the truth I'd prefer to get her this or this, £120 down from £250, which looks just as bright and garish as the Michael Kors, but I'm hoping has a longer lifespan..

  • Put yourself in her shoes, do the right thing...

She'll only wind up slinging it in the river...

  • I don't think lifespan matters too much when buying a Michael Kors, it's only going to get worn for a year or so... But at least it will get worn, that Seiko won't

Hope I didn't tread on any toes but I bought the Ladymatic that Robadob posted on the last page, in way better condition in the flesh so thanks.

  • Corny you do realise this a girls watch right?

  • here's the thing, I hear what everyone is saying about buying the Michael Kors, but I'm naturally inclined to say no to the purchase, whether for birthday/christmas whatever. I'm not down with the young 'uns pulling expensive gifts out of the air, just because they perceive you can pay for it, because you're working. As much as I love my niece, I balk at paying close to £200 notes for a watch which is all brand name and shiny metal, which I'm pretty sure will be forgotten in no time at all. I'd rather give her something half the price, which would have twice the longevity, if that's not possible, I'll randomly get her something else, and she can spend her own money on any watch she wants.

  • Get her the MK or don't get her a watch.

  • Mrs TS's dad bought her a man's Citizen Eco-Drive thing for her birthday (he bought her something he would wear)... I think he spent quite a bit on it...

    It will never be worn...

  • fuck it, I'm just not going to get her a watch, I'll tell her she can spend her own money on one, then let me know how much it cost...

  • I think this image answers it. It's going to have to be the 5 Sports

  • The one on the right's a much classier watch, the branding is spot on for a change... I fucking hate that 5 Sports logo...

  • I'm with the old man

  • sadly so am i....

its like just because theres more possible advertising real estate available, it must be used...
