Recommend track gloves

  • Having my first track session next week and need to take a pair of mitts. I don't own any at the moment so wondering whether a general cycling mitt is OK, or if you recommend something thinner /more padded / more ventilated etc? Not looking to spend loads but would rather get something that will last and do the job properly rather than buying cheap-buying twice!

    cheers

  • General mitt is fine. Whatever you feel comfotable with.

  • Cheers roboto , really looking forward to it!

  • I use golf gloves from Sports Direct, you have to buy a left and a right as Golfers only wear one glove, these work out less than a tenner for a pair.

  • I love these gloves, both full finger and fingerless.
Not suited for winter riding though.

  • ^loved my Gripppppp's but they literally fell apart.

  • yeah the Hirzl gloves are great. 5Bling are also super grippy but look a bit strange.

  • How strange do the 5 bling look? I was thinking of getting some of the white ones but I wasn't sure how shiny they were?

  • The others I was looking at were Mechanix as I reckon I could use them for CX as well

  • Very shiny like the material used for aero shoe covers or PVC clothing whatever your persuasion .

  • Thanks Kyle, I can't find any actual reviews of them anywhere!

  • If you want gloves specifically for track I would go for 5bling they have a suede palm that's very grippy but has zero padding . Although they look pretty flimsy in pics they are really well made .

Before you buy make sure to check their size guide as they come up pretty big and you want them really fitted . I'm usually a XL glove but in these I'm L , just stick with their guide below

  • Thanks Kyle, that is actually the most information I've seen on the net!

  • Would really like some 5Bling gloves - bit.... Flash though aren't they?

  • I really like my 5bling gloves. I don't think they're that flash. They go well with my carbon bike and aero helmet...

  • I ordered some HIRZLs but have since read that kangaroo leather is sometimes obtained by cruel means. There is no mention of animal welfare on the, Swiss company's website. I'll still use them but won't recommend them to my vegan friends.

  • ^^ you've kind of made my point for me there, Rob ;)
