"It was a cold and wet day and still with an air of "I can't be bothered with it" in my mind, I decided that I would not bother with the usual warm-up. Instead I decided that I would just wear my thermal longs and go for it, like a training ride. That is what I did, and at the start, I put it in the highest gear for the downhill section and tried to keep turning it for as long as I could.
