they used to make them, but they've discontinued them
they were not well received, see

Zipp is a SRAM brand now so they ditched the wheel side as Zipp much better known

650b rims- what's good for commuting?
-
• #4005
They were prone to pop spokes.
-
• #4006
Any 650B MTB version if you're going disc.

Let's pretend for a second that I know nothing about MTB rims?

Pacenti CL25 so far is the best value in term of weight/price (368g).

Mavic CCU 2013 VS Zipp 303 2015?
Both tubs...
Zipp 303 (U Shape, 45mm x 25-27mm, 1335g, €1850 new)
Mavic CCU (V Shape, 40mm x 21mm, 1185g, €1600 ex demo basically new) -
• #4010
Zipp, no question.
-
• #4011
Zipp.
-
• #4012
At the risk of being uncontroversial and sheep-like, Zipp. Particular with the new-and-improved rear hubs.
-
• #4013
HED Stinger 4FR .. But if you must have Zipp, like Danstuff said, buy the latest ones with the new rear hubs
-
• #4014
HED are really expensive here in Italy unfort., likewise ENVE and I believe in supporting my LBS as that relationship is more important to me than a few hundred euros.
They do have ENVE but the price is another ~€700 on the Zipps and ~€1000 on the Mavic CCU's and this is something of an unnecessary purchase as it is...

I have HED Stinger 4 FR, got them basically new from an American forum for ~£600

I would have agreed with you about Campag Shamal wheels until a couple of days ago when I noticed a spoke has ripped out the rear rim and apparently it is uneconomic to replace it. Don't remember doing anything particularly extreme to break it. Anyone heard of similar failures?
-
• #4017
In my experience Shamal rims often outlast the hub/spokes.
-
• #4018
Right - I'm looking for a ~30mm deep, 24-28hole, wide rim. Ideally without a braking surface, but whatever. Carbon would be grand, but not the be-all and end-all.
The closest I have found so far is the Whiskey Parts Co. Cross rim, but it's 32H which is overkill.
Whatcha got for me people?!

Bdop has an aero 40mm disc rim $700/pair tho
-
• #4020
Eeesh, bit steep. Thanks though, definitely in the right area.

Velocity Aileron Clincher? Alu, but only roughly 30 grams heavier than carbon

^ BANG, that's perfect.
Now, do we think that 24 CX-Rays would be too few spokes for a rear wheel on my track sled, at 60kg?
Also, who is making the most hesh of hubs at the moment? Black, low flange. Mack? I don't like Phils.
-
• #4023
Hesh? What the fuck are you on about?
Wow I'm old.
-
• #4024
With a high flange hub and non-dished wheel on a massively stiff rim you'll be fine.
-
• #4025
I'd go for 28 spokes which would be bare hesh for skidz. I'm also 60kg which is well coincimental.
SRAMs road wheels... do they even exist? Google gives a few scattered results, but I am getting the impression these might be old stock.
Just curious as to why? There's plenty of love for SRAM groupsets, wouldn't SRAM fans want a wheelset to go with it?
