700s in a 27" frame can look mint. I ran 35c in a road frame a couple of years ago as a winter tank and it was radical.

do it. Road frame geo with big tyres is fantastic, I really loved commuting on that and not having to worry about pot holes. Also had it geared really low with shopper bars and used to destroy prommuters over vauxhall bridge during my commute.
