The Colnago is definitely steel. If I recall correctly it used an impossible to find size seatpost (seriously tiny).
-
• #89853
could be a one off steel one like romingers then?

The Colnago low pro is steel - Colnago Oval CX tubing. Indeed, the same as the Rominger pursuit bike - the pursuit frame was just the TT frame with different ends and bosses removed. Its a lovely tubing close up, but very, very flexible.

interesting
this is meant to romingers bike, picture sent to
by the owners "mechanic"
this decal staes EGO,
so I can't see it being OVal cx
these were 90's models, oval cx was a lot earlier, early to mid 80's,here's an 81
i think it's more likely to be ego as is ballerini's as, bothe were mapei from the era, a custom job sounds more likely
hillary stone bought one rominger in switzerland, the ballerini is in italy, so very few people would have physyically touched these models in comparison to oval cx's which were production line were and quite widly distibuted -

Yes, I used to have one. Hence knowing how flexible they where. One give aeay on the tube set is the extremely narrow seat post.
-
• #89863
fair play!that is stunning!
was ego a different kind of steel or cx rebranded then and
do you think the Ballerini is the same model ? -

To chime in slightly late to the whole Laser thing... there were a few notable auctions of old velodrome bits Russia way a year or so back... De Rosa's and Cinelli Pista's (and Lasers) going for a couple of hundred inc. Campag Pista BB's and cranks. I think a Guerciotti went for £150 inc Campag Pista cranks and BB. It was on facebook somewhere. I am not even going to mention the amount of messages I sent to various pages to try and secure that frame...

Oops, sorry then

The Colnago does not use you typical Columbus Ego tubing. Below is a picture of what Ego tubing looks like and it is actually a really stiff tubeset. The tubing on the Colnago is probably custom stuff.
