Just realised that Jackie Kyle died last week - Ireland's greatest ever rugby player (even above BOD). Certainly my school's greatest rugby player*. A real-life hero too - spent the rest of his working life as the only surgeon in a 500-bed hospital in Zambia.
*we had one other Ireland captain, who played for the school team while I was there - his 12-cap international career saw 2 defeats to Namibia and wins only against Japan and Zimbabwe. Also cost us the 1991 WC semi-final by giving the ball away at the death. Poor sod.
