Dan YAL had previously given me the thumbs up to the American Classic wheels...
But having a fitting session available is also a big positive for me...

FWIW I've got the F&F (inc headset) for sale, although at the moment it also comes with a seized Miche BB.
Link?

Haven't yet put it up on here yet, as was hoping to get BB out first. But can post pics later if interested?
BTW it's a 58

@dubkev I've got a Moda Forte with AmClassic 420 (an upgrade from the OTP forte with come with the AmClassic Victory 30s) which I ordered from CyclePS for £800. I think the 420 upgrade added on about £150? I've found the OTP set-up pretty relaxed and comfortable for what I thought would be a generally uncomfortable experience (aero ftw etc etc) for a beginner - which I most definitely am, but I reduced the stack height by 10mm and otherwise not touched the set up and it's been great. I don't think the frame is anything super special - it's very nice and all - but the wheels are fucking lush. I think the main reason I'm happy with it is that it's sensibly set up from the get go and the wheels are really nice. Though you can customise it at no additional cost (stem, stackheight, sprockets) when ordering from CyclePS - looking back I would have gone with a 49 or 50 up front as it comes with 48. Also as an aside sometimes I think the logo says MOOO instead of MODA but as you might imagine it doesn't matter that much
As for the Condor, well you can't beat a bike fitted just to you so that's a big benefit. I don't think there is a world of difference between the two and you'd be happy with either. Anyway what I've discovered in track - much more so than any other riding I've done - is that the bike disappears from my thoughts and it is just about how strong (or not actually) a rider I am anyway. I've seen plenty of pretty normal steel track frames with unexceptional wheelsets absolutely crush it around HH at inters and Monday Nights.

Christ, might just be a tad large for me, sorry...

Thanks for the advice Dan, much appreciated. What is it about the wheels that you'd say places them above the Miche ones?
(BTW I think the MOOO logo issue is a big deal, like wtf is that shit, and has probably swung it in favour of the Condor for me)

And yes point made and heard about the bike being not a huge deal, I get my arse handed to me by guys ten years older on steel frames at the training sessions.

No worries :-)

I'm kindof in the same boat as you - although I've actually already got a c2w quote from Condor (if my HR/finance department ever gets round to sorting it out) because I really like the velodrome bikes.

Did you walk into Condor and get the quote from them?
But yes, I've gotten quite used to the hire bikes now, that is another reason for going for the Lavoro. I'll be putting a much bigger gear on it though.

Yeah I popped into the shop and had a chat with them. There's some financial jiggery-pokery as the track package counts as a sale bike but they're willing to do it.

Buy a pre cursa from Dolan on c2w (you can tart them up on their site with sg75's and other stuff) -then buy some 2nd hand track tubs here for racing on.

No sorry, never been to a Saturday morning session, I am always looking after my kid then as his mother goes to a class then.
-
• #392
Ah I see, were you down on Wednesday evenings for racing at all?

• #393
Nope, I am not in the league... sorry there must be some other lad from Dublin there!
I have/had a Forte, although only had the F&F rather than a whole bike, so can't comment on the quality of components, although on paper they look great to me.
