You talking about bb30?
-
• #6203
yeah
-
• #6204
sounds about right. Stupid system.

Plenty of 24mm systems need a tap with a rubber mallet.
The Cannondale SI axle needs freezing and a good whack. When it's in, it's in.

Interested in building up a road bike for the spring, have a groupset just need wheels and a nice frame
shorlist so far is:Kinesis Aithein
or Genesis Volare 853Any other reccomendations? I've thought about a Caad 10 but i don't think i want to spend any money on something with a BB30 again. I'm after something reasonably light and racy, don't need practical as I have practical bikes allready, mostly will be used on 40/50 mile runs unlikely to do any sportives etc.

Those model names are brilliant: Palace, Pilgrims, Footscray and Layhams!

Ah yes. for some reason I thought they were coming from the US.

Still a rychtarski/orlowski/Duratec is better value. I guess the only thing you get is easy communications and perhaps better aesthetics with Victoire.
-
• #6217
They are very pretty.
-
• #6219
Victoire is 30% off today. Nice but (not quite) so pricey.

Hi all, any recommendations for a good first frameset for a first proper road bike? Fairly set on Shimano 105 for the group (at the price it's currently at), and I will look at wheels after the frame. Was thinking aluminium frame with carbon fork, size 59-60 (i'm 6'4", 34" inside leg), although missed out on this a few of weeks ago. Another thing to mention is i'm 100kg, and need to stay at that weight for my other sports. Assuming i'm looking at the second hand market here but any options new? Budget is around £200. Cheers!
Edit: Have looked at the Ribble winter trainers etc, was wondering if there's anything of similar value but maybe of slightly better quality? Aesthetics a secondary concern here...

Do you have a good local bike shop? They can help you with something that fits. I know of (non-london) shops selling low end Merida and Treks frameset only.
I'd probably avoid old, used eBay framesets if I were you.
Have a look at kinesis too.
As in cranks needed a tap to get properly seated, shimano and sram both outline it in their instrutions and cannondale do too i think
