  • Just a thread to dump photos and stuff during the evolution of the bike.
Feel free to fill the thread with questions and comments however dumb they might be. This is after all our own big inspiration melting pot.

  • Question 1. Where are the pics?
    ;-)

  • It didn't happened.

  • No pic, you see.

  • it's all lies.

  • in the shop, one and a half years ago.

  • Subscribed

  • first iteration:

rack and better tyres: on this kind of bike tyres means everything!

    bar swapping:

  • With those bars in the last pic, how did you keep your kid's head out of your face? Or are the drops for getting close to check diaper status? Love the bike BTW!

  • thank you.
usually I would ride on the hoods or the top of the bar when he was with.
but this also displays the real benefit of the dropped top tube, double compact frame geometry.
the bars went back to the crosser quite fast though. an improved drop bar solution is in the (slow) works.

  • what mudguards did you use and how big can they go?

  • gilles berthoud. they're 60mm wide on the outside. the tyres are about the same and gives a little side spray in heavy rain.

  • list for good measure:

    frame/fork: Rawland Drakkar
    HS: CK
crank/BB: Sturmey Archer/NN (to be Rotor Agilis with Wolftooth)
cog/chain: Superstar SS kit/ KMC something stainless
    pedals: Exustar track
    stem/bar: Kona/NN
    post/seat: Kona/SSM Rolls
brakes: Avid something 3 (to be Formula RX)
wheels: Hope XC/DT Comp/Velocity Dually/Halo Twin Rail(will put the Schwalbes back on ASAP)
    child seat: Bull Dog
    rack: Minoura Gamoh Porteur
mudguards: Gilles Berthoud with custom hardware and brass stays

  • I quite like the ghost logo!

  • I was considering putting my Halo Twin-Rails back on too, but I think I'll stick to the Schwalbes.

  • I just can't get along with them, the halos. I've tried a few times though and this time the rear punctured the first day.
as my 4yo son pointed out, it could be the rim tapes fault instead though. (I had let him mount leccy tape for rim tape on the rear so he does have a point)

  • Anybody know where I could get hold of one of these? Exactly what I'm considering having built.

  • I think they're out of production now, but ask hubjub, they sell one of their other frames so might be a channel.

  • Cheers. Have emailed rawland, to see if they know of any knocking about. Will have a word with hubjub.

  • Closet I can think of is the Velo Orange Camargue, but that doesn't have disc.

  • Aye, discs are a must. Cheers though.

  • @jontea Salsa Fargo is probably your one. Doesn't have the pretty lugs but can take big old tyres and discs

  • Looked at that. Not keen on the suspension corrected forks. I have a Thorn disc fork, but the a-c is much shorter than Salsas offering. The search continues. May just save some pennies and have Rourkie build one.

The new velo orange frame might be a shout (when it comes out)
