Meh. I edit video and process huge raws on an i5 iMac. It doesn't miss a beat. You don't need to spend as much as 1.5k for a very capable machine. SSD/hybrid drive and a shitload of RAM, job done.
Really glad I bailed on the pro setup, spent the money on going places instead :)
That's quite nice to know actually, was a bit worried about the performance of the mid range MacBook after mine seemed to be getting a little slow (2009 MacBook Pro).
