there you go...
@saarf I'm not saying that Lasers are ugly.
We all know what Pesenti did at the time, but fuck, why a "common" SLX Laser pursuit (used frameset) must be worth more than £4000... I really can't understand...
But I can understand over €10k for the prototype shown above, these are rare, not the slx ones. -

Yeh but I would imagine a return. Like the 'one off" leica etc

Cult + Hype + loaded collectors = $$$
Same as for instance a pair of original used Jordan 1's. Mostly to damaged or worn (read: not wearable) but still "worth" a shitload of money.

I really doubt these "declared" numbers... At least 100 frames were commissioned by the FCI and other national teams (sprint and pursuit discipline), people keep finding them all over the world.
Plus all the display models for shops and galleries, plus the loads of Laser built for the US market (as you know most of Laser strada were sold there).
The reason I use the word "common" is because I saw more Lasers in my life than any other special bike.
I own myself a frame way more rare than the Laser, with a lot of studies behind, but for that reason I don't think it's worth five figures.
I think Laser (all versions) is an awesome piece of design, especially for that era, but unless we are talking about the few crazy prototypes I can't really understand why a nice Pesenti SLX frame should be worth more than 5k.
Peace & love ;) -

I'd personally take the Laser Mia over the Pista/Prototype/Pursuit model anyday as I could actually use the thing. Was the Mia a good road bike? in comparison to other roadies of the time?

You can get a Laser Mia frameset anytime you want, at the price of any other similar high end carbon frame. ;)
Or were you talking about the classic road Laser?
If so I doubt it is any better than any 80s nice steel road bike of that era. -

Classic Mia, I seen the modern Mia, Nice looking bike when built up!

lol
understandable , whole laser thing seems like it's turned into a dick measuring contest
the initial point i was trying to make and defend was that cicli's price wasn't too over top for a market savy shop given other prices recently, and that it's listing could just be a ploy to drive traffic to the site
I think we've already covered that; it was a charity auction, basically a pissing contest among rich people to see who could over pay the most for the least valuable lots.
