I really doubt these "declared" numbers... At least 100 frames were commissioned by the FCI and other national teams (sprint and pursuit discipline), people keep finding them all over the world.
Plus all the display models for shops and galleries, plus the loads of Laser built for the US market (as you know most of Laser strada were sold there).
The reason I use the word "common" is because I saw more Lasers in my life than any other special bike.
I own myself a frame way more rare than the Laser, with a lot of studies behind, but for that reason I don't think it's worth five figures.
I think Laser (all versions) is an awesome piece of design, especially for that era, but unless we are talking about the few crazy prototypes I can't really understand why a nice Pesenti SLX frame should be worth more than 5k.
Peace & love ;)
Two guys I know bought in an auction 5 Laser pursuit pista framesets (National team edition) and sold 3 of them for an average of €4,500 (£3800) each.
The conditions where the same as the one Berlinetta is selling (not sold yet for a year already, hence the silly asking price).
Ghibli discs, SR cranks, 2A and LA84 won't cost €10k.
Unless he finds some rich hipster that doesn't know how "common" these frames are, this bike is going to be hanging on the window for quite a long time I guess.
Or maybe he just priced it so high so nobody actually will buy it and he can keep it as display piece.
