  • agreed, it's a design icon
was in the sablon area of Brussels, and that seat/stool combo was no less than 14,000 euros in the shops that had

  • Not many things are cooler than a Cinelli Laser Pista Pursuit, but I reckon a 12k diamond that's been to space and back might be.

  • I would prefer white bar tabe, but still that's a damn nice duo.

  • They were nicer before:

  • ..but you can get that eames chair and ottoman knock offs for £500ish can't you? hope that happens with the bike...

  • That's just about the loveliest blue I've seen.

  • Matching frames thread >>>>>

    (Can stay here too imo)

V Close. But needs flouro pink bar tape obvs.

  • Enamel over chrome perhaps?

The OG builds there were probably the bike-porn high-water mark.

  • Actually prefer a blue with a colder base. Not so much turquaaaaaz. Have you seen my vitus? coughs

(Blue might have aged from catalogue like that family photo by the window)

Excuse the RAD saddle / bar angle. I was still central. <<<>>> B-)

  • Super went for euro 7128.70

I could buy a half acre of land for the that money. 12000 pound could get you half a relic + land.

What it has become is the default 'top trump' bike of people who think '73 Carrera RSs and Helmut Newton prints are rare collectibles that show off their great taste. Just like the Eames chair.

Practically every visit to a track bike blog these days will yield you several pictures of a (riderless, studio-bound) Cinelli Laser. I've seen two in real life in the last 18 months without even looking for them. It's not even like they show up in interesting cycling films being ridden by people who have anywhere near the capabilities to do them justice. Considering what folk are daring to build these days, buying one is almost tragically unimaginative.

As for the chair & ottoman - The real deal costs four and a half grand (in GBP or USD), brand new from Vitra or Herman Miller. Anyone asking €14k is angling for stupid tourists (or people who work in finance).

  • Blue Kalavinka road bike.
I'd just go with pedals with clips and straps. And as mentioned white bartape.

  • dream bike / setup. Just needs SRM.

  • Two guys I know bought in an auction 5 Laser pursuit pista framesets (National team edition) and sold 3 of them for an average of €4,500 (£3800) each.
The conditions where the same as the one Berlinetta is selling (not sold yet for a year already, hence the silly asking price).
Ghibli discs, SR cranks, 2A and LA84 won't cost €10k.
Unless he finds some rich hipster that doesn't know how "common" these frames are, this bike is going to be hanging on the window for quite a long time I guess.
Or maybe he just priced it so high so nobody actually will buy it and he can keep it as display piece.

  • vitus?

    aww yisss, very nice bike

Matt and I have chatted about making a modern Laser, key to that (for us, at least) is that it wouldn't be a look-a-like, it would have to be a bike designed based on the same principles that informed the original.

It could look nothing like the original, although it would be interesting to see what it did look like.

A project for the future, anyway.

  • a bike designed based on the same principles that informed the original

You mean a Specialized Shiv/Cervelo P5/etc., i.e. the best TT frame the designer knows how to build.

  • As I said, there's a reason why it's not a project for today.

  • Ha!
@Dammit honestly it'll be a hard task, apart from the colour and the fin underneath the bb (also present in a lot of other bikes from the same era), there is nothing that makes the Laser really unique, apart from the marketing campaign.

  • Anyone know what forks these are?

  • On backward?

  • this thread is having and existential crisis.
