I was aware of it because in the US it's massive and people are always trying to find out in advance what the ridiculous loss leader giveways will be so they know which shops to queue outside of.

Like Boxing Day basically but this is the first time I've seen UK retailers joining in probabaly on Amazon/Apples coat tails.
