Mittens are warmer than lobsters are warmer than fingered gloves, for a given thickness of material. Just ask the parent of any kid that skis.
Lobsters are great, because they give you enough fingers to do anything you need to do.
Fancypants fingered gloves are great for strangling, but not much else.
