  • How about all the people who smoked too many fags when they were younger start a thread called "Siberian handwear solutions"?

I'm only joking but if you really find the cold that bad, why not just invest in a decent pair of thinner ski gloves? That means one layer will be adequate without a liner.

Something like the DaKine leather and goretex Cobra's I have would be perfect and really hard wearing (have done about 9 weeks of skiing now - I normally trash a pair a week). Either that or invest in chargeable heated gloves... Or some of those heat pads you can recharge in the microwave.

It might also be worth looking at the sizing of your gloves - lots of people just jam one pair of gloves into another; leaving no air to insulate and making it hard to get blood in.

Apologies if these things have already been suggested..

  • My hands also get cold in ski gloves - I wore mittens when I went snowboarding (with a liner), in reasonably warm conditions and my hands were only just warm enough.
When I spent some time in actual Siberia I had heat packs in my (three layers of) gloves and bought a lot of coffees to hold but it's not really that practical for cycling in london.
