Talking of West Norwood the set of lights at the end of Robson Rd as you come onto the High Street? What's the deal I was sat there for at least 4 minutes on red before I got bored and made a move as there were no other cars about. This has happened before are there lights that are only triggered by a car?

Saw lots of people who don't seem to value the longterm mobility of their joints wearing short shorts.
As Princess TW said, we like shorts. Don't do knee warmers either - makes cyclists look like escapees from Mega City One.

^^ you could even croxted / rosendale road to brockwell park. bit of a sophies choice really. and possibly a bit out of your way.
feast next weekend damo - suspect we'll see you in the rad-dads bug-a-boo jousting pit.

Cheers. Do you just use Brixton Road between Milkwood & Kennington Rds?
-
• #3732
milkwood > coldharbour > walworth rd > albany rd > old kent > great dover street
-
• #3733
Like this? Looks direct if not necessarily pleasant
-
• #3734
Yep! if you want quieter, there's an offroad route from peckham library to the north east edge of burgess park
-
• #3735
Nope I go up Milkwood to Loughborough junction then down Loughborough Rd., joining Kennington Rd. at Jamm. That last bit of Loughborough Rd. can be a BITCH for traffic tho.
-
• #3736
why not just go railton road > brixton > brixton road and peel off at kennington.
-
• #3738
is that round the back of the new flats they're building?
-
• #3739
Thanks all. Brixton road isn't awful in my experience but there's a lot of traffic.
Think I'll either go for something like this then:
http://goo.gl/GsEhaUOr head down into Peckham, go on the off road bit, through Burgess Park etc. I've no problem on big/busy roads but I've found if you're doing a route twice a day it makes for a more enjoyable life to try to keep off the most trafficky stuff, even if that means going a bit slower. Eg currently enjoying the Thames Path instead of Vauxhall.

^^Aye, but there's no problem heading north. Have to find a different route coming back, though; Akerman Road is still one way till the work finishes.
-
• #3741
Who likes short shorts?
-
• #3742
milkwood > coldharbour > walworth rd > albany rd > old kent > great dover street
Personally I'd avoid all those
Akerman->Patmos->Elliot->Foxley
and those too,
South London
yep that too.
Choose civilisation, move north.

First day I regretted not wearing gloves. Still fingers were surprisingly mobile for being frozen.

I used to go from Tulse Hill to Brixton using Effra Road and eventually gave up because of traffic, shit drivers and (whisper it) hills. Milkwood4lyfe
-
• #3748
The hills are what's good about tulse hill -> effra. Get away ahead of the cars at the lights at the top and you can smash it all the way down Tulse hill at good speed.
-
• #3749
Take the cycle+bus only past tulse hill and don't see another car until brockwell park when the cycle lane kicks in.

Commuters of South London, what's a good route to do this journey - is their suggested 'balanced' one any good?>
Norwood Road>Brockwell Park>Brixton Water Lane>Effra Road>Brixton Road>Kennington Park Rd>Newington Causeway>Borough High Street
I go Tulse, Herne, Milkwood, Kennington every day and it's pretty good. Can't comment on the route via Dulwich and Camberwell though.
