Picturesque Chobam bar/pub/restaurant discovered while out on the Surrey 60 months back.
Enormous platters of sauce drenched full ribs, fantastic burgers, decent beer.

Bump. After spending a good half hour recuperating in the Cafe at Whitwell ^^^ this weekend, the humble tea room seems to have reacquired significance, especially now the winter months are upon us. I've added a couple I realised were missing.
Any others? Hopefully I'll be seeking out a few good ones in East Sussex through December which I can add to the list...

Knead Food Cafe at The Blue Egg (n.b. they have their own website but it's not built yet)
Braintree Road, Great Bardfield, Essex, CM7 4PY.
01371 8118019am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm Sunday but the kitchen closes at 3.30 in the week and 3pm on Sundays.
Big cafe in a huge barn which is also a farm shop (hence the Blue Egg bit). Epic selection of good quality, enormous cakes, when the kitchen is open they will also cook you up various hot foods of your choice. Really good sausage rolls, good coffee. Popular with cyclists and there is a collection of signed jerseys pinned up on the walls. No locks needed, just leave your bikes round the back.

He's scared of pumping his tyres after punctures too, apparently...

Ha ha, very good Luwdig! If I go into those maps I always end up accidentally clicking on something then moving it.
^I'm scared of your pump, that's for sure. Although I was glad of it under the circumstances, obviously.

good coffee, warm and cold snacks and reasonably priced. It's also quite secluded so if you're out without a lock it's not too risky

BUMP
I've added a few places which I've discovered over the past couple of months, mostly in Sussex.
Found a small gem today which was a bit of a lifesaver after a thorough two and a half hour soaking - Bradness Gallery between Uckfield and Barcombe. It's a newly renovated place attached to the owners home, so it feels like sitting in someone's open plan dining room and kitchen, which also has an Aga. Home made cake and good coffee. It was quite cheap, too. I think we paid £7 for two coffees and two slices of cake. And they didn't mind us leaving huge puddles on the floor.
Whitwell yesterday. Nice tea shop.
